operations

John Reed
John Reed
Director of Operations

I’ve never shied away from hard work. Raised on a 160-acre family farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, my mornings began at 4:30. In high school, I took a “Building and Trades” class, where I first learned about construction. However, I was drawn to the military, following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather. At 17, I enlisted and completed basic training the summer before my senior year. I spent 22 years as an Army Ranger and Drill Instructor, taking various college courses whenever possible. After retiring, I returned to my roots and began a career in construction, which felt like a natural fit. My favorite pastime is tinkering—taking things apart, learning how they work, and putting them back together. Now, I try to pass on what I’ve learned to my crew. I don’t just show them how to fix something; I teach them how it works, so they gain a skill, not just a work assignment.
