GOLF

Where the mountains meet the fairways

Golf stands out as one of the most popular activities within our community, and SaddleBrooke Country Club serves as a private golf club exclusively owned and operated by SaddleBrooke One, with membership access only. Over 30% of our residents actively engage in golf, and our courses are renowned as some of the finest in southern Arizona. This reputation is attributed to the dedicated horticultural and maintenance initiatives overseen by our course superintendent and director of golf. Notable recent programs include the comprehensive regrassing of courses from 2015 to 2018, the installation of a new irrigation system, and a thorough renovation of bunkers.

Our 27-hole facility comprises three distinct 9-hole courses—SaddleBrooke, Tucson, and Catalina—each possessing its unique character and challenges while offering stunning views of the Catalina mountains. Daily rotations ensure a varied playing experience. Complementing the golf courses are excellent driving ranges and practice areas, with certified PGA professionals available for game improvement instruction. SaddleBrooke offers annual golf memberships tailored to all skill levels. Various player leagues, such as the SaddleBrooke Men’s Golf Association (SMGA), the SaddleBrooke Women’s Golf Association (SBWGA), the Men’s Niners, the Lady Niners, and the “Sputters” for those focused on putting and chipping, organize weekly competitions, annual Member-Guest tournaments, and external competitions with other Tucson-area courses throughout the year.

Beyond the confines of SaddleBrooke One, residents have the opportunity to play on the daily fee basis at the Mountain View and The Preserve courses, both welcoming non-residents for outside play.

The Tucson Nine

The Tucson Course is widely acknowledged as the most challenging among the three courses at SaddleBrooke One. Its difficulty stems from its considerable length, deep bunkering, and small yet undulating putting surfaces. Despite the challenges, players are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Catalina Mountains on every hole, providing a scenic distraction from the task at hand.

The SaddleBrooke Nine

The SaddleBrooke Course extends westward from the clubhouse, presenting breathtaking sunset views. Its distinctive features include a focus on accuracy over length and subtle undulations on the greens. The signature second hole, serving as the backdrop to the community entrance, requires a dramatic 125-yard carry over a lake. As the original course on the property, it is frequently sought after for its fair yet challenging layout.

The Catalina Nine

The Catalina Course stands as the most recent addition among the three courses at SaddleBrooke One. Spanning both sides of a natural arroyo to the south of the practice green, the course offers golfers close-up views of the Catalina Mountains, with the Tucson valley visible in the distance. Noteworthy features include three challenging par-three holes of varying lengths, contributing to a par of thirty-five.
